Food Network (LFN) supports local food growers and initiatives that increase
awareness of and access to healthy, sustainable food. By “local food” we mean
food which is produced within 120km of central Wellington.
In 2011, an enthusiastic group of Wellingtonians formed a not-for-profit community group to help support and strengthen the local food movement. They believe that growing, harvesting, and sharing food is a great way to build a resilient community. The members are involved in the production, distribution, and promotion of local food in the Wellington region. Theyconnect and promote sustainable food organisations including shared and community gardens, markets, distributors, educators, retailers, and many other diverse food projects. LFN operates under the umbrella of Sustainability Trust, Wellington. Though LFN receives support from partners and Wellington City Council, most work is done by volunteers.
